Clinicopathological Study of Supraglottic Laryngeal Malignancies

Background: Laryngeal malignancy is the second most common in head neck region worldwide. Incidence of supraglottic carcinoma more this country which interferes with vital functions sufferers like voice, respiration and swallowing by virtue its anatomical location, local infiltration direct extension.
 Objectives: To find out clinicopathological profile laryngeal malignancies patients attending a tertiary level Hospital.
 Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted among seventy eight cases who were histopathologically proven selected from in-patient department ENT Head -Neck Surgery Dhaka Medical College Hospital, during January 2020 to July 2021.
 Results: Among 78 study, male: female ratio 10.1:1 mean age 52.1 (± 4.6) years range 40 years. Majority came low socioeconomic condition (79.5%). Regarding habit 93.6% smoker 59% are habituated chewing betel nut leaves, 3.8% tobacco alcohol 2.6%. Most presented than one symptom commonest change voice (87.2%), followed dysphagia (78.2%), swelling (55.1%), irritable cough (32%) dyspnoea (20.5%). big portion (39.7%) had T2 lesion T3 (38.5%), T1 (11.5%) T4 (10.3%) clinically. Clinical nodal involvement 55.1% there no distance metastasis. 56 (71.8%) exophytic growth 22 (28.2%) ulcerative growth. large (65.4%) Aryepiglottic fold False Cord (34.6%), arytenoid (29.5%) Epiglottis (25.6%). On histopathological evaluation, Squamous cell (SCC) present 85.8% cases, well differentiated (14.1%), moderately (53.8%), poorly (17.9%). While Adenocarcinoma found 7.7% Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma 6.4% cases.
 Conclusion: Supraglottic usually occurs 5th decade male predominancy poor socio economic group. Smoking, (tobacco nut) habits consumption have got strong relation causation carcinoma.More half has metastasis predominant histological type squamous carcinoma.
